Pieces Of Love

They met in school when they were only fifteen
Instead of getting good grades, Jimmy was getting in her jeans
Now Sally’s 17 with a baby by her side
Jimmy’s got two jobs just to keep them alive

They lived hand to mouth, but they had a T.V.
And a car outside their flat on 42nd street
A bit too much pride to ask their families
Lord, help the man who’s living on dreams

But they’ve got pieces of love to hold on to
Pieces of love to see each other through
And a faith that there’ll be enough
Little pieces of love

Now all Jimmy feels is the weight of his world
Sally’s just lonely, she never sees the other girls
Lost is the innocence, lost is the youth
They found the hard times, and the sobering truth

Jimmy sits at the table
He never thought life could be so tough
In walks daddy’s little angel
And he knows there’s more than enough
