Waiting for the World

Thought I was way behind, yeah, behind the times
Just a motel falling down in some lonely one heart town
Where the trains don’t stop and the whiskey’s not
And your name is all you’ve got and you’re not looking to be found

Ch: Tick, tock time take me where I’m bound
Can’t speed up and I can’t slow down
Day don’t end ‘til the sun goes down
So I’m waiting for the world to come around
Yeah, I’m waiting ‘til the world comes back around

I could play the game, give them what they need
What good’s an Ivory Tower if it brings me to my knees?
Clinging vines grow tall, into every crack
Clinging people, they grow blades, then stab you in the back

The time keeper knows how to walk that line
Past the sweet smiles and the brave hearts and the young girls eyes
But the heartbreaker always falls behind
So I’m walkin’ ‘til it’s my time
