Cage Of Memories     Back

She plugs in the radio

The switch is broke, so that’s how it goes

And runs her bath to a song from 1969

She remembers how it felt to feel

More than lonely, more than steel

Her coldness lost to one more glass of wine

I guess everybody knows

Just how love’s supposed to go

On and on and on and on and on

I guess it’s not that hard to see

She (He, They) can’t find a way to leave

She’s (He’s, They’re) trapped inside a cage of memories

He looks through the windowpane

A vacant stare, yet still her name

Rolls off his lips, emotionless she blames him

He remembers how it felt to love

No fear he could not rise above

Now he hides from the very eyes that claimed him

She walks along a busy street

Haunted by her memories

She feels the ghost of his arm on her shoulder

He drives around for hours alone

A dozen times he’ll pass their home

Just wishing he could find the strength to hold her
